Final Standings, Concord-Carlisle SCS 2017-2018, 11-18-2017

Fellow SCS Chess Players,

After a disappointing turnout at my first SCS event back in September, I’m pleased beyond measure to have rebounded so abundantly, with 25 players participating, at the Concord-Carlisle SCS. Although it was tight for the 14U Section, we eked out enough to get three separate Sections. I’m especially happy to report that this is the best attended Club SCS so far in the 2017-2018 season.

Isaac Gordon in 11U and Alexander Tran in 8U both extended their massive SCS Point leads. They may be virtually unstoppable at this point.

Winners:

14U

1st – Henry Booth
2nd – Ian Van Hulle
3rd – Lucas Kamon

11U

1st – Holden Chalfant
2nd – Sritan Devineni
3rd – Isaac Gordon

8U

1st – Alexander Tran
2nd – Rami Klemencic
3rd – Justin Sun

Our next two tournaments are in 2018: Sundays 3/25 and 6/10. And I am directing the two remaining Club SCS at Boylston CF on Sunday 1/21/2018 and at Chess Empire Kids in Wakefield on Sunday 2/25/2018.

See you all soon over the board. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Jacob Chudnovsky joined us for his first Championship, and set a record as the first WALTHAM CHESS CLUB CHAMPION to sweep the field. Hearty congratulations to Jacob.

Winners:

Championship:

1st Place: Jacob Chudnovsky, WALTHAM CHESS CLUB 2017 CHAMPION

2nd Place: Sergio Dario German

Autumn Open:

1st Place: Alan Song

2nd Place: Ilya Rozonoyer

3rd Place: Anand Nair

Under 1400 (4-way tie): Stephen Desouza, John Miller, Gordon Peters, Edward Shi

The full standings are below my signature.

Next year I intend to make the Championship ** FIDE-rated **. Looking forward to having many more players participate in 2018.

Final Standings, Concord-Carlisle October G/30 d5 – 10-29-2017

Fellow Concord players,

Though I hope we will have more players at Concord-Carlisle’s next event, I am grateful to the 16 players who turned out for the October Scholastic. Because we did not have enough players over age 11, we combined the two Sections, but still gave out all six Trophies. Lucas Kamon and Holden Chalfant held off the mob to emerge in 1st and 2nd Places with 4 and 3 Points respectively.

Winners:

Over Age 11:

1st Place – Lucas Kamon
2nd Place – Holden Chalfant
3rd Place – Manas Erramilli

Age 11 & Under:

1st Place: Mark Chumack
2nd Place: Arnaud Kohler
3rd Place (tied): Jayden Newland, August Lee-Kovach, Jonathan Newland

Please mark down 11/18 as the date of the annual Concord-Carlisle Spiegel Cup Series. Thanks and we’ll see you over the board.
